Christ Church United Methodist

A Reconciling Congregation

 WELCOME

 THIS WEEK

 AT CHRIST CHURCH

Christ Church is a United Methodist congregation in central Denver. Our faith community takes seriously both the heart and the mind as we nurture the spirit of God. You will find a community striving to be real: combining intellectual questions along with heart-felt experiences to seek wholeness in living. We believe you will be welcomed, loved, and embraced in authentic and vulnerable ways. We believe there is a unique place to find hope in the midst of a dark, chaotic, and challenging world -  at the corner of 7th and Colorado.

Our hope is that you will find here a Christian community of integrity that will challenge you and encourage you in your spiritual journey. We invite you to be part of the community we call church.

Labyrinth Open beginning March 2nd

The labyrinth is a symbol of our lives, especially the journey of Lent. We walk into the center of the labyrinth and pause to reflect on our personal struggles, wildernesses, or challenges in an effort to find resolution or another path to walk in life. We then walk back into the world connected to God and finding a new way of being. The labyrinth will be in the Fellowship Hall all of Lent, beginning Thursday, March 2nd and you are welcome to walk it on Sundays or during the week when other groups are not using the space. Please call the church office to verify the labyrinth is open, 303-322-0784.

February Worship Series

Every year Rev. Eric invites questions to be asked on a Sunday morning. We never know what people will ask; the questions are poignant, humorous, and very real. After three years of receiving questions, there are four questions that have been repeated and very little time to fully try and answer them. Not that this season will necessarily answer them, but we will engage in some deep and difficult, unsettling questions.

This week: Why Can't Justice Be Fully and Finally Realized?

Announcement about doors at CCUM

For safety and security, Christ Church Trustees have decided to no longer unlock the south entrance doors off the alley on Sunday mornings. Both sets of main entrance doors will continue to be unlocked. If you have questions about this decision, please contact Trustee Chair, Larry Bourgeois (trustees@ChristChurchColorado.org) or Rev. Eric (EStrader@ChristChurchColorado.org).

Youth Mission Trip Bake Sale Fundraiser

Bring a few extra dollars with you to church on February 19th and purchase some baked goodies and frozen meals from the Youth Group. All funds raised will go to support their activities this year and the mission trip this summer. If you want to help bake some items or make some frozen meals for them to sell, please contact Rev. Megan.

Glad You're Our Neighbor Yard Signs

If you'd like to put one of these yard signs in your yard, they are only $8! We have them in the office, just let Rebecca know (office@ChristChurchColorado.org) and you can pick it up throughout the week or on Sunday.

Ash Wednesday

Join us Wednesday, March 1st at 6:30pm for our Ash Wednesday service in the Fellowship Hall. We'll begin Lent by reminding us of the path we all walk towards death. An anointing with ashes is a powerful moment of welcoming God during this journey and inviting a deeper recognition of our need for faith, community, and the Divine. This more contemplative service will include creating prayer beads for the Lenten journey, Taize music and a meditation by our intern, Austin Piper.

Progressive Activism in the Era of Trump

Join Rev. Eric at Iliff School of Theology on Monday, March 13th for "Progressive Activism in the Era of Trump". The event runs 2:00 - 9:00pm. Email Rev. Eric for more information at estrader@christchurchcolorado.org.

Altar Flowers

There are lots of open weeks to sponsor altar flowers in 2017. The flowers come from Trader Joe's and we ask for $35 and you can take them home following worship. Take a moment to add your name to the chart in the Fellowship Hall.
