Christ Church United Methodist

A Reconciling Congregation

WELCOME

THIS WEEK

TO  CCUM

AT CHRIST CHURCH

Christ Church is a United Methodist congregation in central Denver. Our faith community takes seriously both the heart and the mind as we nurture the spirit of God. You will find a community striving to be real: combining intellectual questions along with heart-felt experiences to seek wholeness in living. We believe you will be welcomed, loved, and embraced in authentic and vulnerable ways. We believe there is a unique place to find hope in the midst of a dark, chaotic, and challenging world -  at the corner of 7th and Colorado.

Our hope is that you will find here a Christian community of integrity that will challenge you and encourage you in your spiritual journey. We invite you to be part of the community we call church.

Annual Celebration Luncheon

So many wonderful things happened in 2016 we just need to celebrate! Mark your calendar now and plan to join us for the Annual Celebration after worship Sunday, January 29th. Bring a pot of your favorite chili to share, staff will provide cornbread and toppings. We'll hear highlights from 2016 - how many new members? How much did we give to missions locally and around the world? What percentage of people paid their pledges? Just how many projects did the Trustees tackle? You can hear these answers and much, much more and help us celebrate on the 29th!

Community Event

Join others from Christ Church at Denver Center for the Performing Arts performance of "The Christians" on February 17th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $30-$40.

RSVP to Rev. Eric (EStrader@ChristChurchColorado.org) by January 20th, money due by January 30th.

Synopsis: Pastor Paul inspires faith in the members of his growing congregation through his preaching. But when he brings up unexpected questions during a sermon his changing perspective may ask too much of his followers. Featuring live music at every performance, The Christians is an intimate look at the moments that define who we are and what we believe. This New York Times critic's pick is "a terrific new play...from one of the freshest playwriting voices to emerge in the past five years."

Announcement about doors at CCUM

For safety and security, Christ Church Trustees have decided to no longer unlock the south entrance doors off the alley on Sunday mornings. Both sets of main entrance doors will continue to be unlocked. If you have questions about this decision, please contact Trustee Chair, Larry Bourgeois (trustees@ChristChurchColorado.org) or Rev. Eric (EStrader@ChristChurchColorado.org).

Souper Bowl of Caring

Bring non-perishable food items the next several weeks as we participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring food drive! Whether you are watching the game or not, help us collect food to donate to DenUM. Items can be brought to the Giving Center in the Narthex.

Altar Flowers

There are lots of open weeks to sponsor altar flowers in 2017. The flowers come from Trader Joe's and we ask for $35 and you can take them home following worship. Take a moment to add your name to the chart in the Fellowship Hall.

Glad You're Our Neighbor Yard Signs

If you'd like to put one of these yard signs in your yard, they are only $8! We have them in the office, just let Rebecca know (office@ChristChurchColorado.org) and you can pick it up throughout the week or on Sunday.

Mitten Tree Report

Thank you to everyone who provided items for the UMW Mitten tree this year! We are sending the Denver Inner City Parish a whopping 41 hats, 98 mittens/gloves, 11 scarves, 1 hand knit sweater, and 1 pair of socks! Wow! What a wonderful donation. Denver Inner City Parish is so grateful for all the items!

Organ Concert

Our very own Jeb Barrett is performing an organ concert 3-4pm January 22, 2017 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. He will perform works by Buxtehude, Couperin, Wood, Reger, and more.
