Sanctuary is more than providing a roof

What do you think about when you think about churches providing sanctuary? "People in need, need more than a roof," Richard Myers said at last month's Administrative Council meeting. Christ Church is beginning an exploration into what it means to be a sanctuary congregation. Hosting individuals under our roof is one option, but not the only option. We can provide space for English language acquisition classes, provide "know your rights" classes, make meals, do laundry, run errands and other support for other churches that are housing those needing sanctuary. We ask you to be open to the conversation, ask questions, allow yourself to listen, hear, and learn about the Sanctuary movement in the United Methodist Church.

Pastor's Conversation Class

Pastor's Class will meet at 9:00am this Sunday in the Upper Room to discuss being an Ally for Racial Justice.

Social Justice Corner

Racial Justice Class

Due to so many wanting to dialogue about race and a faithful response, we have moved the class out of the Naylor Study. Join us in the Upper Room at 9am for more conversations and responses as privileged people. Please come join the conversation, whether you miss a week or not, all are welcome to be part of this important conversation. This week: we talk often about beloved community, but what is it? How do we define it? What does it tangibly look like? Special guest to our class will be Sheryl McCallum.
