Rev. Greg Young

Pastor

Greg Young was born in Philadelphia, PA, and lived there for ten years. At the age of ten his parents decided to pull up roots and move to Littleton, CO, which he has considered his hometown ever since!

Greg graduated from Littleton High School and the University of Northern Colorado (B.A.). He received his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL, and has attend the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. He also attended the University of Denver, where he received Certification in Marriage and Family Therapy.

In 1971 Greg was ordained a Deacon in the United Methodist Church and became a member of the Rocky Mountain Conference. In 1973 he was ordained Elder. Greg has served appointments at Cheyenne First United Methodist as associate pastor, Niwot United Methodist as senior pastor, St. Andrew United Methodist as associate pastor (in a shared position with his wife, Carolyn), and later at St. Andrew as full-time associate pastor. While at St. Andrew, Greg entered an appointment beyond the local church and served on staff as a pastoral counselor. In addition to the position at St. Andrew, Greg had a private counseling practice for 16 years. His most recent appointments have been as associate pastor at Northglenn United Methodist and at Emmanuel United Methodist as senior pastor.

Greg has been married to his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, for 42 years. They have one son, Matthew, who is married, two grandsons (ages 10 and 4), and one granddaughter (age 4). Their son and his family live in Parker, CO.

Greg likes to read books on spirituality, theology, outdoor adventures and mysteries. Mysteries are his books of choice for lazy reading moments. He is a collector of stamps, mostly topicals of lighthouses, and his is continuing his father’s Greek collection that was begun when his father was eight years old.

Greg says, “I am looking forward to working with you at Christ Church as we strive to continue to learn and grow, expressing God’s presence through Jesus Christ in vital and significant ministries.”
