Christ Church United Methodist has a long history of social justice work, and a long history of resistance to unjust rules and situations. Christ Church is a Reconciling Congregation, and we affirm our call to be in community and ministry with all people of all races, sexualities, gender identities, physical conditions, and ages. We all are on a spiritual journey and we want all people to know they are welcome here.
We, the community of Christ Church United Methodist know that grace cannot be constrained by the flawed legislation of the special General Conference 2019. We have not and will not
abide by the restrictions the Book of Discipline has placed on the inclusion of LBGTQIA+ people in the full life of the United Methodist Church, in our community of faith, or in our lives. We will continue to affirm and offer the Church’s blessing to any prepared couple desiring Christian marriage. We join with people of faith everywhere in calling for full equality and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the life of the Church.
A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR LANGFELDT
Wecome to Christ Church...
Christ Church is a faith community that believes all are welcomed; no matter the questions and doubts you bring, no matter whom you love or are in a relationship with, and no matter your country of origin. We are progressive, which means we value the traditions of the Christian faith and believe they should be questioned and challenged. We believe diversity and inclusion are God’s kingdom realized here on earth. We believe social justice is paramount to realizing salvation for the world.
Our community phrase is “real church.” We believe in offering a real welcome, advocating for real justice, creating real community that can handle your messiness and success, and learning about theology that is real and relevant to your life.
